I had been asking the Lord to show me something I could do practically in my life to serve Him. When I learned about the need for a teacher for the field workers’ children, I made inquiries about the position and there was nothing in the reply that I could say no to!  I taught at the Barefoot Academy for two years (2002-2004).

While I was well-prepared for my service by the staff of my sending agency, Action Partners at Bawtry Hall (now Pioneers-UK), and by information I received from MCWA, Meskine was nothing like I had imagined.  I was very impressed by both the hospital and its employees and the care they provided for the patients. I was always made to feel welcome in the hospital and took part in weekly prayer rounds.

The most valuable lesson God taught me while in Meskine was to ‘let go and let God.’ I maintain that anyone could have done the job I was there for but I could not have gained the insights and moved forward in my walk except in that situation. My time at Meskine was life-changing.  What the Lord requires is one’s obedience to His call, regardless of age or background.  He will equip me for whatever He requires me to do as long as I am willing.  Be like Peter and step out of the boat!  You know the Lord is there to ensure you will not drown!
