Team members in Cameroon have been supported from the very beginning by a group of like-minded volunteers who serve as the Board of Directors for MCWA. Each one brings unique talents and gifts to MCWA and leads the ministry with servant hearts.

Current Board of Directors

William A. Clark, Jr.

William A. Clark, Jr., CPA

"It is an honor and privilege to serve MCWA and have a small part in supporting the hard work of so many who have labored in this work."

Roxanne Dill

Roxanne Dill, LSU Instructor

“I am privileged to serve on the board of the Medical Centers of West Africa and to be a small part of God’s great work in Cameroon. It’s my prayer that we can support and encourage our [field team] at home and abroad.”

Matt Heinz

Matt Heinz, Investment Advisor, Board Chairman

“I wanted to join in on what God is doing.”

Paul Leinweber

Paul Leinweber, Retired

"God has always moved in my heart for Internationals.  I have been aware of MCWA since its beginning but have stayed on the sidelines. God is moving in the hearts of the [people] in Cameroon, and it is time for me to get involved in His work there."

Tonni McCollister

Tonni McCollister, Associate Children's Pastor

“My husband and I have been involved with MCWA as supporters and prayer partners. I sense God moving mightily and I want to be more fully engaged in what He is doing, specifically in what He will continue to do through MCWA in Cameroon.”

David Mills

David Mills, Policy Researcher

"God is bringing physical healing and spiritual vitalization to people who need both. I am honored to be able to participate in the powerful ways He has been moving for some time now."

Larry Moore

Larry Moore, Retired

“One of the ways that I can love God is through the outward display of helping, nurturing, and caring for others. When I was approached by Matt Heinz to be on the board, it was a simple decision to join.”

James H. Wood, M.D.

James H. Wood, M.D., Pediatric Surgeon

“I've had the privilege to watch the ministry grow from the dream of a few passionate folks to the flourishing... movement that it is today. As a visiting medical student at Meskine Hospital in 2001, I saw firsthand how the love for God's people manifest itself in the ministry of mercy to the sick and dying. I praise God for those who have been and continue to be His hands and feet in Cameroon, and I'm thankful for the opportunity to be part of the team through service on the board.”

Cheryl Yennie

Cheryl Yennie, CPA, Executive Director

“I got a wonderful invitation through my church's community group to join the MCWA board. My community group leader knew I had healthcare finance experience as a CPA and although I knew nothing about the ministry work and did not know any of the [field team], I did know a bit about serving with volunteers on a board. Twelve years later, this single decision to volunteer my talents has changed everything about me. I am very humbled and grateful that God interrupted my plans for His plans. What a wonderful invitation indeed!”

Ministry Leadership

Danny D. Kennison, Home Office

Danny Kennison is currently located in Baton Rouge, Louisiana, and works from the MCWA Headquarters. Born and reared in the Baton Rouge area, he attended Louisiana State University where he met his wife, Frances. Following graduation in 1974, he taught in the East Baton Rouge Parish school system for five years, and then entered the building industry where he worked for ten years, eventually owning his own construction company. Danny and Frances have two sons, Wes and Tyler. Both of their sons are married and live in Baton Rouge. The Kennison's home church is The Chapel, an independent, evangelical church in Baton Rouge, LA.

Danny was invited to join the work in Cameroon in 1989 and oversee the construction of the facilities. Following three years of theological and language training he arrived in Cameroon in October of 1992, and construction began in December of that year. In addition, his responsibilities over the years have included hospital administrator, field director, and director of administration at headquarters.

Matt Heinz, Investment Advisor, Board Chairman

Matt is our current Chairman of the Board effective February 2016. He joined our board in 2007 where he contributed his talents to the Finance Committee as well as served on the Nominating Committee. Cheryl Yennie, CPA, Executive Director

Cheryl is the current full-time team leader for the USA headquarters located in Baton Rouge, Louisiana. Cheryl moved to Baton Rouge in 1977 with her family from LaPorte, Indiana, and obtained her degree in accounting at LSU in 1983. She is a CPA and has over thirty-five years of experience in public accounting as well as healthcare financial management. Cheryl is married to Henry and they are members of The Chapel.

Cheryl began her work with MCWA in January 2003 as a volunteer Board member and was named Board Treasurer the same year. She has visited the hospital six times since 2003. When Danny vacated the Director of Administration position to return with Frances to rejoin the field team for another term of service, Cheryl replaced him in that role. In November 2012, Cheryl was named Executive Director and CEO of the ministry. Since September 2008, she has supported MCWA field team members, donors, prayer partners, and board members. She participates in evaluating, coordinating, and training candidates for team membership. Cheryl also directs many activities performed by the USA MCWA staff.

"Under Dr. Leo Yoder's leadership in 2003, my heart began to change. A new heart, no longer of stone (Ez. 36:26), convicts me of the strategic place I can choose to be. Through MCWA, I can be part of His story." - Cheryl Yennie
